BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida (BBBSNEFL), is a mentoring organization that seeks to help provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Working within the communities of Northeast Florida since 1914, BBBSNEFL has effectively inspired change in the lives of thousands through impactful mentoring programs and meaningful relationships that defend and ignite today’s youth to reach their full potential. We currently have active matches in Nassau, Duval, Clay, Putnam and Volusia Counties including a service footprint reaching Baker, Flagler, and Union Counties.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA

Whether kids dream of becoming a ballerina, an astronaut, or an all-star athlete, your local Boys & Girls Club can help them become their dream by providing a safe, fun experience through which young people can reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. But the real strength of our Clubs is the caring, trained, trustworthy youth development professionals who serve more than 5,000 kids and teens in Duval and St. Johns counties. DANIEL MEMORIAL

The majority of children and families we help come to us through referring governmental agencies or community resources including: the Florida Department of Children and Families, Family Support Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Children’s Commission, and United Way. In coordination with these agencies, Daniel assists children and families that qualify for Medicaid to determine the level of care needed, and then guide them through the process of obtaining the referral and health care funding required to initiate care.

FLORIDA STATE COLLEGE AT JACKSONVILLE – CAREER CONNECT PROGRAM

FSCJ was recently awarded a grant from the Kids Hope Alliance to establish Career Connect. Geared specifically to youth ages 16-21 who identify as low income, have barriers to traditional high school settings or have juvenile justice involvement, Career Connect will help these youth work toward completing their high school diploma, GED® or obtaining a career certification.

JEWISH FAMILY & COMMUNITY SERVICES (JCFS)

Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS) provides quality social and community services across the life spectrum to enhance the lives of children, adults, seniors and families coping with challenges that arise throughout the life cycle. Guided by Jewish values, with a rich tradition of nearly 100 years, the services are available to all in the First Coast Community.

GIRL SCOUTS OF GATEWAY COUNCIL

We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

I’M A STAR FOUNDATION

Established in 2010, I’m A Star Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides an outlet for students (ages 12-18) to develop solutions to help their peers overcome negative statistics.

An acronym for “Smart, Talented And Resilient” students, the Foundation draws 35 student servant leaders from middle and high schools across Duval County each year. The teens volunteer their weekends to come together and strategize to improve their communities.

I’m A Star Foundation trains teens to embrace the notion that the essence of leadership is service. Students engage in service learning projects focused on improving three core issues: childhood obesity, food deserts, and student homelessness.

MANAGED ACCESS TO CHILD HEALTH – CRIMINAL JUSTICE REINVESTMENT GRANT

Outcomes for children improve when all in the community are plugged in and connected together to a local grid of resources. By making a stronger and more reliable network, opportunities expand for all children. Those with severe emotional problems sometimes need extra resources to help keep them on track. In response to these needs, the Jacksonville System of Care Initiative under The Partnership for Child Health, has engaged with at-risk youth through a four-year, $1.2 million Criminal Justice Reinvestment Grant that helps evaluate and treat those in the juvenile justice system who struggle with serious emotional disturbances.
